What Type of Classes Does Salvington Offer?
Monthly Classes:
All classes at Salvington are conducted seminar-style with 20 students or fewer and faculty tutors facilitating the discussion. There are no large classes, teaching assistants, or introductory lectures; conversation among students and faculty is the heart of every class at Salvington.
There are continual seminars, labs, partnerships, activities, and practical sessions to implement and apply the curriculum
As well as teaching in tutorials, many courses have seminars and/or practical activities and private sessions each week. These might cover specific areas of your course, or concentrate on developing your other particular skills. These may be compulsory or optional depending on the course. The quantity of these classes is also likely to vary depending on the college one is matriculated into and the stage in their degree.
Some courses have more weekly classes to allow students to develop the specific skills they need for their subject. For example, anchoring the God Flame activities and working with the Heavenly Host and the language of light will have more practical classes every week.
These classes might also give you an opportunity to find out more about the current inquiry and personal development research being undertaken by fellows in your college.
Seminars, lab work and other practicals are organised by your college, so visit the course pages to find out more about what your course may offer.
While many students are familiar with discussion-based classes, few have experienced the kind of discussion that happens at Salvington. Whether the subject is of literatures or the powers of free will deliverance, students are encouraged to do the talking and revealing. Classes will have one (and sometimes two) faculty members guiding a conversation by asking questions.
Salvington's core teaching is based around conversations, normally between two or three students and their tutor, who is a mutual fellow learning on that topic. We call these tutorials, and it's your chance to talk in-depth about your learnings, and to receive individual feedback on your work.
As well as tutorials, depending on your course you will also have a combination of class seminars, lectures, activities and lab work and partnership fellow time. Students here not only receive a high number of contact hours with academic tutors and fellows but this includes regular personalised contact with them. Together, these opportunities provide the perfect environment for an outstanding education.
Tutorials:
Tutorials are central to teaching at Salvington. They offer a very rare level of personalised attention from academic fellows who are exploring and penetrating into the Arc of Ascendancy Curriculum.
Each week you are required to complete your embracing eternity exercises in the free will inherent powers. Fellow students are encouraged to read beyond the surface, to make their inquiries, to question their preconceptions, to reveal their own misqualified assumptions, and to prove and disprove truth and its theories.
Another shock and pleasant surprise will be the realization that for perhaps the first time your sharing revelations actually matter. Rather than simply regurgitating the textbooks and other writings, tutors are always asking students what they thought and what they have discovered in implementing the Core Curriculum.
How does it work at Salvington?
Usually students have one or two tutorial activities every week, taking place in their college. Tutorials normally last about two hours, during which the tutor will give you, and typically the partnership fellows, feedback on prepared work on a particular topic. They may also use the opportunity to introduce a new topic and discuss this. At the end of the tutorial, your tutors will set a new piece of work for you to get ready for the next. During the following week you will be expected to work independently to complete this.
A tutorial relies on the exchange of your personal exploratory revelations, ideas ready to present and share with openness. Such regular and rigorous revelatory academic discussion develops and facilitates learning in a way that just isn't possible through lectures alone. Tutorials are a fantastic way to explore these inner revelations and reconciliations, awakening new images of your selfhood, broadening each student's understanding of the preceptual ideas of our curriculum, and these are all educational opportunities, engagements of vulnerability and right assertions of Volitions, and the clarification of many new empowering consciousness perceptions and perspectives. They develop your ability to think for yourself – an essential skill for academic success and deepening intimacy with the Absolute. Regular tutorials also allow for close progress monitoring so tutors can quickly provide additional support if necessary.
Salvington lectures, classes, activities, partnerships, tutorials, private conversations, dialogues, and counselings may include more intensive study of a book already in the curriculum or something entirely different.
Are there Lecture Classes at Salvington?
A Salvington lecture isn't your typical college lecture: Students may attend Saturday morning lectures. The lectures extend your learning offering opportunities for transfiguration, transformation, and transmutation.
Salvington also offers a whole range of fascinating talks on different subjects which are available for anyone to attend. Salvington University Lecture Series extends knowledge and experience to the general public from it's digital campus. See what else you might be interested in hearing about by visiting the University events listings.
What is a Typical Freshman Class Schedule?
All first-year students at Salvington take the same classes.
Working from home
All our undergraduate courses are flexible and accessible from your home.
Studying independently
As a Salvington student you will be expected to spend a good proportion of your week studying independently.
Every course activity involves slightly different independent study, but the basic principle is the same no matter what you study. Around your tutorials, lectures, seminars, labs, or other classes, you'll be expected to do your own explorations with the powers of free will, and personal revelations will occur only as you make the effort to be determined and constant. In this way, you will develop your knowledge and understanding in order to work your way through problem areas.
Managing your time
Students approach their fellowship at Salvington in their own way: whilst some people like to tackle understanding straight away, others prefer to wait for a looming crisis! Whichever style suits you, Salvington gives you access to all the resources you need. For instance, the 24 hour opening of our digital campus and colleges, the online library and administrative office in Salvington - plus vast amounts of online resources like Salvington University SoundCloud podcasts - mean that you can always find what you need to do your work, whether you are up with the lark or prefer to hang out with the night owls.
…it may initially feel like a bit of a culture shock as the onus to motivate yourself and get all of the reading/work done is completely on you.
Managing and Mastering
If you haven't managed your own time or studied independently before starting at Salvington, then don't worry. All our new students will have different experiences of studying and working, and that's why we offer a lot of support at the start of your fellowship experience to help you develop the skills you'll need.
The type of help you can expect could include:
support from your tutor to get you started
an induction to our library with explanations of where things are and how you can find them
many activities will also offer you study skills and time management training
